Retifism
Updated:Retifism, also known as shoe fetishism or foot fetishism, is a sexual interest characterized by a strong attraction to shoes or feet. This paraphilia involves deriving sexual arousal or gratification from interactions with, or the sight of, shoes or feet. The term "retifism" is derived from the name of the French novelist Nicolas-Edme Rétif, who wrote extensively about his foot and shoe fetish in the 18th century.
Additional Information
Retifism can manifest in various ways, from a mild preference for attractive footwear to an intense fixation on specific types of shoes or feet. Some individuals with retifism may find sexual satisfaction in touching, smelling, or even tasting shoes or feet. Others might enjoy watching partners wear particular types of footwear or engage in foot-related activities.
It's important to note that having a foot or shoe fetish is relatively common and, when practiced consensually between adults, is considered a harmless variation of human sexuality. However, if the fixation becomes obsessive or interferes with daily life, it may be classified as a paraphilic disorder, requiring professional help.
