Perineum
Updated:The perineum is the area of skin and underlying tissues located between the anus and the genitals in both males and females. This diamond-shaped region is often referred to colloquially as the "taint" or "gooch." Despite its small size, the perineum plays a significant role in sexual pleasure and function due to its rich nerve endings and proximity to other erogenous zones.
Additional Information
In males, the perineum contains a portion of the penis's internal structure, including part of the corpus spongiosum. In females, it's closely connected to the pelvic floor muscles. For both sexes, the perineum can be highly sensitive to touch and pressure, making it an erogenous zone.
The perineum also serves important physiological functions. It's part of the pelvic floor, which supports the pelvic organs and plays a role in urinary and fecal continence. During childbirth, the female perineum stretches to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal.
