Bicurious
Updated:Bicurious refers to individuals who are predominantly heterosexual but have some level of curiosity or interest in sexual or romantic experiences with people of the same gender. This term is often used by people who are exploring or questioning their sexual orientation, particularly if they haven't had same-sex experiences before.
Being bicurious is different from identifying as bisexual. While bisexual individuals are attracted to both their own and other genders, bicurious people are typically still figuring out their feelings and may or may not act on their curiosity.
Additional Information
Bicuriosity can be a temporary phase of sexual exploration or a stepping stone to identifying as bisexual or another non-heterosexual orientation. It's important to note that experiencing bicuriosity doesn't necessarily mean a person will ultimately identify as bisexual or engage in same-sex relationships.
The term is sometimes criticized for perpetuating the idea that same-sex attractions need to be "proven" through experience, which isn't the case for heterosexual attractions. However, many find it a useful label while exploring their sexuality.
Examples
A woman who has only dated men but finds herself attracted to a female coworker might describe herself as bicurious.
A man who is interested in experimenting with other men but isn't sure if he's attracted to men in general might identify as bicurious.
